Returned to the abandoned Club Maeva Tulum
« on: November 14, 2009, 06:29:33 PM »
Hi Friends,

During our recent trip to Catalonia Royal Tulum at Xpu Ha Beach, Dawn & I walked down for a look at our old buddy, the Club Maeva Tulum.  They have a security guard posted in the beach restaurant, but he was gone so we sneaked in for a peek.

What a sight!  We were barefoot from the beach, so couldn't venture in past the pool area.  So sad to see the destruction of the once deep beachfront, the hollow beach restaurant, and debris scattered everywhere.  The pool is half full of stagnant water, fallen palms, and old pool furniture.  But the main building still seems intact.  Most of the hotel rooms looked pillaged.  Glass doors were open, broken or simply missing.  So as we stood by the towel hut, we recalled many pleasant memories of our time at CMT.

Maybe this could be my next job...clean it up & open as the greatest resort in Mexico!  I'm sure others have considered it.  But for now, I'll continue onward with my travels.

Bye,

SeaBass

did you take pictures; we'd love to see what you saw - my wife and I (and kids) were there 4 times over the years and really miss it - don't know how to replace it ...
